I enjoy helping clients learn skills to help them self-empower and get 'unstuck' from current barriers, and find their way to a more fulfilling and rewarding life.
Welcome! I’m so glad you’ve taken the step to begin therapy, and I’m honored to be a part of your journey toward healing and growth. My name is Sam and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Arizona and California. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of issues, including relational difficulties, mental health challenges, eating disorders, trauma, and more.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Arizona and Louisiana with over 17 years of experience in trauma-informed psychotherapy. I earned my Master of Social Work from Tulane University in 2008 and have worked across inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, university counseling, grief and bereavement care, and trauma-focused programs. I am EMDR trained (finalizing certification) and integrate CBT, DBT, IFS-informed parts work, somatic approaches, and mindfulness-based therapies.
I specialize in complex PTSD, sexual trauma, religious and spiritual trauma, attachment wounds, ADHD, anxiety, and shame-based relational patterns. Many of the individuals I work with are high-functioning on the outside but feel lost, fragmented, or deeply self-critical on the inside.
Clients often describe me as warm, loving, affirming, and validating. I also bring a teacher’s heart into the room. I believe understanding how trauma impacts the nervous system, relationships, and even women’s biological health helps reduce shame and restore clarity. I see therapy as sacred work. You are not a diagnosis to me; you are a whole person whose nervous system learned to survive.
I'm Rachael Colley, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on psychiatric medication management with a practical, skills-based approach. My path ran through teaching and nursing before prescribing, so explaining things in plain language comes naturally, and I care about what works in your real life, not just what looks good on paper.
Who I work with I see adults, teens, and children, with particular depth in ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and binge eating disorder. I provide neurodiversity-affirming care and have a strong interest in supporting people navigating a late diagnosis, both the relief of finally having answers and the practical work of figuring out what comes next.
I offer early morning, evening, and weekend appointments across Arizona.
My priority is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. With over 40 years in healthcare—including service as a former Navy Nurse Corps Officer and retired military veteran—I bring values of resilience, trust, and teamwork into every therapeutic relationship. I view care as a partnership and work to empower you to take an active role in your mental health.
Clinical Focus & Services
I provide pharmacotherapy (medication management) motivational interviewing, and other therapeutic modalities. We can assess during the first meeting if your treatment requires additional therapeutic support. I will provide a referral to a licensed therapist to ensure you receive comprehensive care. My practice supports:
I provide psychiatric care in a way that is warm, open-minded, and empowering. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest about what is going on, whether you are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, stress, postpartum or maternal mental health concerns, depression, trauma, sleep issues, OCD, eating concerns, or women’s mental health challenges.
I know reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already carrying a lot. I work collaboratively with clients to help them better understand what they are experiencing, identify what is getting in the way, and build a plan that feels realistic, supportive, and aligned with their goals. I want clients to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care every step of the way.

Headway helps you find expert-guided support for every stage of motherhood — from finding the right therapist or psychiatrist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for postpartum therapists in Gilbert starts with finding someone whose training fits the support you want. Postpartum concerns can include depression, anxiety, birth-related stress, identity shifts, and relationship strain. Some therapists focus on perinatal mental health, and the PMH-C credential can be one signal of specialized training in this area. As you compare therapists, look for listed experience with postpartum depression, counseling for postpartum depression, new parent support, or women’s mental health.
In a smaller city like Gilbert, local therapist availability may vary by schedule, specialty, and office location. Virtual care can expand your options, especially if you are balancing infant care, physical recovery, appointments, or an unpredictable routine. Along with specialty, consider whether a therapist is accepting new patients, offers appointment times that fit your calendar, and provides a free phone consultation. Reading therapist bios can help you understand their approach, communication style, and experience with postpartum concerns before you book.
Therapy in Gilbert can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for postpartum therapists who match your preferences, accept a wide range of insurance plans, and offer clear estimated costs before your first session. You can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
