I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. There are credentials I could list and ways for you to assess why I am the right clinician for you, and while those things matter, what I find most true is this: I care deeply about this work.
Finding the right therapist is hard, and on behalf of all therapists, I'm sorry this is true. I won't promise a "safe space" for the people I work with, but I can promise an accountable one. I am committed to learning alongside you, knowing that we will teach each other what comes next. I will create the container for our work, and together, I hope to build a foundation of trust that allows you to heal, grow, challenge, accept, and integrate all that has brought you here.
Many people who come to see me are living with depression, overwhelmed with anxiety, or are processing and healing from past trauma. You might be going through a major life transition or find your usual ways of coping are no longer working. You might feel stuck, uncertain, and disconnected from yourself. Investing in therapy can be difficult when there are so many other things that demand your attention. My role is to help you explore what is important to you, what is getting in the way, and make realistic, actionable steps towards your goals.
Disclaimer: My current role as an Access Clinician at Harvard University Health Services allows me to work with folx from all walks of life. I hold a small caseload in my private practice to focus on my clinical interests. Due to my role, I do not see any actively enrolled Harvard students in my private practice. However, this means you can see me at CAMHS for short-term counseling.
I am a clinical social worker practicing a variety of modalities with years of national and international experience. My main practices trauma treatment, CBT, CBT for Insomnia, mindfulness and meditation, adolescent work, post partum mental health disorders. I am also trained in play therapy, radical exposure therapy and nutritional psychology. I enjoy my work and helping people feel connected, insightful into their own life and look at new opportunities for growth and change.
I have professional and personal experience with many mental health issues. I only share what has worked for clients and me. I am curious and open to learning about everyone's unique culture and way of life.
My very general bio would be:
I grew up in MA. I went to both public and catholic schools. I earned a 2nd degree black belt from Premier Martial Arts. I earned a BA in Psychology from uml. I worked at a group home for teenagers, then one for adult men with schizophrenia. I worked as a support and then a lead teacher at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. There, I learned a lot about Behaviorism and ABA. I was then able to work as a clinician as I finished my graduate degree.
I earned my graduate degree at Fitchburg State University. I did my internship at the Community Health Center in Fitchburg. I worked in community mental health before venturing out on my own.
I have worked in several clinical and therapeutic settings including working in private practice for several years, and having had the unique opportunity to work with underprivileged folks in a correctional setting both in an individual therapy and group therapy capacity. These unique experiences have given me the opportunity to work across a variety of settings and acquire a multidisciplinary approach for individuals with unique and specific needs.
Hello! My name is Kristen. I've been helping teens and young adults feel more supported, confident, and understood for over fifteen years. Whether you are managing anxiety, trauma, or just life in general, I am looking forward to helping you grow.
Hello! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 16 years of clinical experience working as a therapist, supervisor and leader in residential, outreach, community mental health and healthcare settings. Based in Massachusetts, I currently offer telehealth services to clients statewide. My specific areas of focus include young adults and adults, those in the LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as those experiencing difficulties or discomfort with change, anxiety, grief/loss, depression and feeling "stuck." If you're motivated to seek therapy and ready to do the work, then I'd love to work with you!
With over 30 years of experience, I specialize in supporting older adults and their families through some of life's most profound and challenging transitions — including dementia, aging, grief and loss, serious mental illness, and end-of-life concerns. I understand that these experiences can feel isolating and overwhelming, and I believe that having a compassionate, non-judgmental space to talk makes a real difference.
