I am a Licensed Psychologist in Texas and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who specializes in treating children, adolescents, and adults with social-emotional, behavioral, and educational needs. I received my Ph.D. in School Psychology from New York University in 2008 and completed an APA-approved clinical psychology internship at the Devereux Foundation in Pennsylvania. I have received training in both private and public school settings, outpatient settings, hospitals, and in specialized educational programs for children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. I participated in a Family and Multicultural Therapy program for two years at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City where I received supervised family therapy and multicultural competency-based training. In addition to my clinical work, I am an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology Program at Texas State University. My research seeks to understand and promote diversity and inclusion in educational settings. I am particularly interested in studying the development of and consequences associated with children’s social (e.g., gender stereotypes) and academic (e.g., growth mindset) cognitions. My research also involves developing and evaluating interventions to promote positive social and academic outcomes.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) who specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, and equine-assisted psychotherapy. I work with teens, adults, couples, and families, helping clients heal from trauma, strengthen relationships, and create lasting change. Whether we're meeting in the therapy office, outdoors with horses, or virtually, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can build resilience, deepen relationships, and move toward the life you want.
Some of my passions include working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks. I enjoy working with individuals and couples. I have additional training on Emotion Focused Therapy allowing me to connect with attachment needs and help heal through establishing a secure attachment in relationships.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience in the Austin area helping parents and children overcome emotional and behavioral challenges. Services are provided in-home and in the community.
I believe everyone has the capacity to heal. My own therapy helped me to trust in myself and others and I strive to build this trust with you.
My communication style is warm and direct as I first hear your story and then help you slow down. Together we’ll work to understand your emotions. Joy, anger, sadness and fear are messages to inform your life and how you want to be living. Therapy can help you decipher these feelings and get unstuck.
Before starting my private practice, I worked for several years as a middle and elementary school social worker. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work from Texas State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Texas A&M University. I continuously seek out opportunities to learn and grow so that I can provide the best service to you.
I am a mother of two, native Austinite, and coffee aficionado (read addict). I love walking my dogs and speaking Spanish as often as I can.
I believe that self-compassion and self-acceptance are essential for promoting growth and healing. My work with clients is informed by multiple therapeutic approaches grounded in psychodynamic, attachment, somatic, emotion-focused, and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients reconnect with themselves and heal at a core level. I regularly utilize AEDP, ISTDP and Internal Family Systems with clients. I aim to help clients heal the source of their distress, build capacity for emotion expression and regulation, and incorporate behaviors that lead to a healthier self and stronger relationships.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from Vassar College and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University in Palo Alto, CA.
Not all wounds are visible, therapy is a way to heal from within. I provide psychotherapy and holistic support to help address anxiety, anger, addiction, depression, work stress, relationship conflicts or adjusting to the challenges of life. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties. I believe healing happens when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your experiences without judgment while building the tools needed to create lasting change.
