I have been in the psychology field for over 20 years. I have an extensive background treating public safety, military, hospital personnel and there families for trauma, work related stressors and family issues. I have treated people who have survived trauma and I am also a trauma survivor. I have worked substance abuse treatment facilities and both inpatient and out patient psychiatric hospitals treating moderate to severe mental heath problems.
I am experienced in conducting diagnostic testing evaluations, fitness for work and pre-employment evaluations. I am a court recognized expert in a few different areas.
Due to my time practicing and vast experience nothing suprises me. I have seen, heard or dealt with most things in the this field. You cannot put a price tag on experience. I have also lived life and have experienced many things myself that clients come into my office wanting help with. I don't know about you but I like getting help from those that have treated the issues in the past or have gone through it themselves versus those that have read about it in books.
More that fifteen years of teaching English and drama at a Los Angeles public high school taught me many things - primarily, it taught me how often people's barriers to achievement are not due to any lack of skill or ability, but rather from emotional barriers stemming from stress, adversity and trauma. So, I went back to graduate school to pursue a new career as a therapist so that I could help in a different way. My training and experience has focused on treating anxiety disorders, PTSD (including Complex-PTSD) and also couples - helping them to navigate challenges and triggers so that they can reset and reconnect.
I am a Latinx therapist who specializes in trauma and the healing journey that follows. My approach is grounded in both professionalism and personal experience. Having done my own therapy work, I understand the courage it takes to face painful experiences, navigate life's challenges, and commit to personal growth.
I recognize that healing is not always a linear process. Growth often involves discomfort, vulnerability, and persistence. Because of this, I strive to create a compassionate, culturally responsive space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they work toward meaningful change.
Whether you are processing trauma, navigating life transitions, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I am committed to walking alongside you with empathy, authenticity, and respect for your unique experiences.
Sometimes a thoughtful conversation with the right person can make all the difference. As an experienced therapist, husband, and father, I bring both professional training and real-life wisdom to help people navigate life’s challenges. Over many years of both life and clinical work, I’ve had the privilege of helping people move through difficult seasons, gain clarity, and reconnect with their strengths. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re returning after time away, it’s normal to feel uncertain. Our first conversation is simply a starting point. I often work with people facing life transitions, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck, seeking clarity and a practical path forward. Together, we’ll slow things down, understand what’s happening, and identify steps that help move you forward. If you are going through a difficult season, you don't have to navigate it alone.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Upland starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. People look for therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions. As you compare options, look for a therapist whose listed specialties, training, and approach match what you want to focus on. Bios can also show whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or acceptance and commitment therapy.
Upland is a smaller city, so the number of nearby in-person therapists may vary by schedule, specialty, and office location. Virtual therapy can expand your options while still connecting you with a therapist licensed in California. When narrowing your search, consider appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, session format, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading profiles before booking can help you understand how each therapist describes their style, session structure, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Upland can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who take insurance, see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, and choose between virtual and in-person appointments when available. You can browse therapists in Upland, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
