Hello! I'm Dr. John Rossi, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a passion for helping people find clarity and hope on their mental health journey. At Clarity Mental Health and Wellness, I provide compassionate, personalized care — whether through medication management, therapy, or innovative options like ketamine treatment — to support you in feeling your best. I'm here to listen without judgment and work together toward lasting well-being. Welcome — I'm glad you're taking this step!
With over twenty-seven years of diverse nursing experience, particularly in Emergency Room and Mental Health settings, such as St. Elizabeth Hospital, Providence Hospital, and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. These positions have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of both clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. I have worked with several different clientele including age ranges. I specialize in teenagers, LGBTQ+, women issues and young adults 18-55.
I work with adults who grew up with emotionally immature or emotionally unavailable parents. Many come in feeling lonely, empty, or misunderstood, often stuck in people‐pleasing, low self‐esteem, anxiety, or depression, and unsure of who they are or how to form lasting emotional connections. I also support clients facing work stress, major life transitions, and grief. Together, we slow things down, build insight, strengthen identity and boundaries, and develop skills for emotional regulation and healthier relationships so clients feel more grounded, confident, and connected.
I am a double board-certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience across the continuum of psychiatric care, including acute psychiatric emergencies, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, geriatric mental health, intellectual and developmental disability services, and healthcare management. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and am currently completing my Doctorate, reflecting my ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and lifelong learning.
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals and families navigating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, from situational anxiety and depression to severe and persistent mental illness. My clinical experience includes extensive work with schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related conditions, and mood instability across the lifespan. I am particularly experienced in caring for geriatric patients, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and patients with complex medication regimens requiring careful evaluation, simplification, and long-term stabilization.
I also work closely with college-aged patients and adults who are navigating academic pressure, career transitions, family dynamics, identity development, and the cumulative stressors that can emerge during periods of high responsibility or change. Many of my patients are high-functioning individuals who appear “put together” on the outside but struggle internally with anxiety, rumination, intrusive thoughts, emotional dysregulation, or burnout. Others are managing chronic psychiatric illness while striving to maintain independence, relationships, and quality of life.
First off, Hello! I am an LCSW who has worked with individuals, couples, children, and adolescents. I've worked with a variety of clients from those who have been recently been in-patient, going through a life transition (i.e. divorce, grief, relocations), struggling with depression and/or anxiety, and who have experienced abuse and other traumas.
Choosing to be in counseling is an extraordinary act of self-discovery and self-love that I believe each person can benefit from.
