I have been practicing therapy for the past ten plus years, but let's be honest, I was born a therapist. I have had the opportunity to learn that we all grow together and are blessed to take this mysterious journey in our own unique way. I have lived and learned experience, as well as extensive education and training. I began my adult career as a police officer and then returned to college as an adult learner. I graduated from Keuka College with my BSW and Syracuse University with my MSW and an advanced certification in trauma. I have worked with all ages and population but primarily with addiction, trauma processing, and self-esteem issues.
At the end of the day, I am here to listen, guide, and help you learn the value of your own experiences. I specialize in trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety and mood disorders but I am also familiar with self-harm, self-image, and self-esteem issues. My goal is to help you recognize your worth, set goals, learn coping skills and strategize positive daily living. If you are ready to make moves for a better tomorrow, I am ready to help. I am trained in CBT, mindfulness, DBT, motivational interviewing, with advanced specialties in trauma informed care. Let's change the narrative on tomorrow. I look forward to connecting and working with you!
I am a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support individuals and families. With extensive experience in trauma-informed practice, mental health counseling, and strengths-based intervention, I empower clients to navigate life’s challenges and build meaningful, sustainable change.
Grounded in a client-centered approach, I integrate modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and solution-focused techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. I am committed to creating a safe, affirming, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, supported, and understood.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including clinical, community, and educational settings, helping diverse populations build resilience, enhance their well-being, and improve overall functioning. I am passionate about advocating for accessible mental health care, promoting emotional wellness, and guiding clients toward greater self-awareness and growth.
I hold a deep belief in the power of human connection, and bring warmth, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to every therapeutic relationship
Many of my clients come to me feeling like no one truly understands. They're navigating grief, a complicated past, challenges with substances, parenting pressures, or the disorientation that comes with aging and change. Some say they "don't know how to move forward." Others feel afraid, or like nothing has worked. No matter what stage of life you are at, those feelings are real, and they deserve to be heard.
As a Black, queer, Caribbean/LatinX individual who practices therapy from a non-oppressive and radically authentic lens I draw on over ten years of experience working with women, children and communities of color around topics of equity, sexuality, education, LGBTQ+, and trauma. I use my knowledge and background to analyze issues with a strong understanding of the systems, personal history and survival skills that influence your identity today. I am interested in understanding 'personal language' (emotions and perspective) to address the current design of your relationships and encourage transformations better suited for your goals
I address concerns with family dynamics, infidelity, trauma in relationships, cultural concerns, interracial identities, breaking generational cycles, shifts in desires, sex therapy, communications challenges & non traditional relationships.
I first received my Master's in Guidance & Counseling in the 1990s from Hunter College in Manhattan and obtained an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Buffalo. I have also been a practicing, licensed massage therapist for nearly 30 years. I have clinical experience providing empathic mental health care for individuals, couples, families, and groups and have treated anxiety, trauma, depression, personality and eating disorders, as well as other mental health concerns. I have also treated physical disease conditions and physical trauma with mind/body techniques. Each client is unique, and raising awareness of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors is the focus in working collaboratively and intentionally towards realistic solutions.
I have over 30 years of experience in psychiatric social work and work part-time as a college lecturer. I like to think that therapy provides HOPE: Healing Opportunities for Personal Empowerment.
With 12 years of experience as a Licensed Therapist I have worked with a vast array of individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, and other challenges with day to day life. We all struggle once in a while, but things can get better. I understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, and I strive to create a non-judgmental safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and safe.

Headway makes it easier to find family-focused support — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right family therapist in New York starts with identifying what your family needs support with. Family therapists are licensed providers trained to work with multiple family members — whether that's parents and children, adult siblings, blended families, or multigenerational households. Common reasons families seek therapy include communication difficulties, conflict during life transitions, parenting concerns, and navigating the impact of a family member's mental health condition.
New York has thousands of licensed mental health providers, which can make narrowing your options feel like a project in itself. Consider what matters most — whether that's a provider experienced with your family's specific concerns, someone who offers both virtual and in-person sessions, or a therapist located in your borough or neighborhood. Reading a provider's bio before booking can give you a sense of their approach and whether they're a good match.
Family therapy in New York can be expensive without insurance. Using in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance information to see estimated session costs upfront, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a family therapist who fits your family's needs and your budget.
