I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Army Veteran with extensive experience supporting adults through a wide range of mental health and life challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, grief, and major life transitions.
I have experience working with both civilian and Veteran populations and understand the unique pressures that can come with demanding careers, family responsibilities, military service, and periods of personal change. My focus is on helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and practical strategies that support long-term growth and well-being.
I have been practicing therapy for the past ten plus years, but let's be honest, I was born a therapist. I have had the opportunity to learn that we all grow together and are blessed to take this mysterious journey in our own unique way. I have lived and learned experience, as well as extensive education and training. I began my adult career as a police officer and then returned to college as an adult learner. I graduated from Keuka College with my BSW and Syracuse University with my MSW and an advanced certification in trauma. I have worked with all ages and population but primarily with addiction, trauma processing, and self-esteem issues.
At the end of the day, I am here to listen, guide, and help you learn the value of your own experiences. I specialize in trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety and mood disorders but I am also familiar with self-harm, self-image, and self-esteem issues. My goal is to help you recognize your worth, set goals, learn coping skills and strategize positive daily living. If you are ready to make moves for a better tomorrow, I am ready to help. I am trained in CBT, mindfulness, DBT, motivational interviewing, with advanced specialties in trauma informed care. Let's change the narrative on tomorrow. I look forward to connecting and working with you!

Making sure you have a personalized, meaningful experience in therapy is very important to me. Let's find your voice and let's help you into a better spot so you can feel good about life. I have been in practice since 2003 working across many different settings. Through our initial discussions we will explore what may be underlying your current concerns and customize therapy so that your experience is meaningful. If you've ever felt like your previous therapists "just sat there and nodded", you won't have that experience here. I ask lots of questions and will keep you engaged throughout our time together.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been a social worker for over 15 years. I have a background in mental health, couple/family counseling, emergency medicine, perinatal social work, community social work, and Christian Counseling.
Welcome to my page and congratulations on taking the first step to improved mental health. My name is Stephanie and I have been a social worker for the past 13 years. I have since had much experience working with adolescents and adults with both medical and mental health challenges. I have also worked closely with new moms on many of the challenges they face postpartum and working through those challenges together. My experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings allow me to connect with clients at various stages to help overcome challenges.
I have been working in the field of social work/ counseling for three decades. I am approachable, non-judgmental and believe that everyone has something special about them. At times life's challenges cloud our ability to believe this and darken our outlook on life and ourselves. I enjoy helping my clients see their worth and live a happier life. I also grew up with a sister with significant developmental delays and autism. My childhood definitely cultivated my desire to work in this field, while also giving me first hand experience about the challenges of being a sibling to a brother or sister with special needs. I have worked with many children and teens who may be struggling with a similar family dynamic.

Headway makes it easier to find family-focused support — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding family therapists in Syracuse starts with understanding what your family wants help navigating. Family therapy may support concerns like parenting conflict, adolescent struggles, blended family dynamics, and communication across generations. Family therapists are trained to work with the relational system, not just one person. As you compare options, look for a therapist whose listed specialties, approach, and experience match the people who may attend sessions.
In a smaller city like Syracuse, the number of local family therapists may be more limited than in larger New York markets. Virtual appointments can expand your options while still giving you access to therapists licensed in New York. Family therapy sessions may include the full family, smaller groups, or individual members, depending on your goals and the therapist’s approach. Before booking, read each therapist’s bio for details on session structure, availability, communication style, and whether they offer a free phone consultation.
Therapy in Syracuse can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find family therapists, review availability, and see whether they’re accepting new patients and what insurance information is listed on their profiles. You can enter your insurance details to see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before booking, then review bios and book directly when you’re ready.
If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
