You may be used to being the strong one—the person others rely on—but lately you might feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just not like yourself. You may be dealing with depression, relationship challenges, or a life transition that’s left you feeling stuck. If you’re tired of just getting through the day and want to feel more like yourself again, therapy can help. I work with adults across all life stages who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and major life changes.
As a working parent and spouse, I can relate to how stressed and overwhelming dealing with daily life can be. I’ve spent over 15 years in the counseling field helping individuals, families, and couples navigate everything from daily stress to mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma related disorders. I’m practical and realistic in my approach and love to walk through life with the clients I meet.
I received my BA degree in Psychology from Columbia College and my MA degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) dedicated to supporting adult women through life’s challenges with a compassionate, empowering, and trauma-informed approach. I believe that healing begins in a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood, and I strive to create that environment for every client I work with. I have experience working with women in a correctional facility and in a private practice setting. I have also worked with adolescent males in the juvenile justice system, adolescent girls, and children in a school setting.

I have worked in a variety of settings with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, Bipolar disorder, relationship issues, parenting problems, life changes, OCD, ADHD, ODD, anger management skills, LGBTQ related issues, intellectual disabilities, women's issues, and caregiver stress. Counseling is actually my 2nd career, doing I.T. Support was my 1st.
While working in that field, I told people that I did just as much counseling as I did I.T. work. Many people came to see me feeling anxious, angry, stressed, overwhelmed, or in grief because of technology issues.
I quickly learned that there were two issues going on:
· One was technical and the other was emotional.
· One needed repair and the other needed relief.
So, I addressed the person and their emotions first and then addressed their I.T. issues. I spent thousands of hours sitting with people, fixing their technology and giving space for their emotions and...I loved it!
I didn’t realize it then, but these were my first steps which would lead me into pursuing a career as a therapist. Now my work is in Emotional Support and instead of addressing hardware and software, I get to address brainware and heartware.
Hello, I’m Havana. As a licensed clinical social worker, I show a natural aptitude for empathy and a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
I look forward to working together on this journey.
My approach is rooted in trust, empathy, curiosity, and genuine care. I believe that meaningful change begins in a safe, supportive relationship where you feel seen and understood. I strive to create an environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely, without judgment. I have had experience working with all ages- spanning from private practice, community mental health, school social work / school based therapy, and residential treatment centers. While I love working with children and adolescents, I also provide space for adults and parents.
I’m the kind of therapist who sees past “I’m fine” and hears what you’re not saying. I work with women who are used to being the strong one, carrying it all, taking care of everyone else yet inside, you’re tired, anxious, or feeling disconnected from yourself. In our sessions, you don’t have to perform or hold it all together. You get to show up as you are, be honest about what’s weighing on you, and start doing the work to heal at the root. Expect real talk, genuine support, and tools you can actually use in real life.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker in NC, SC, FL, and NJ holding a Master of Social Work. I’ve worked in hospitals, schools, confinement settings and community mental health, and those experiences taught me how complex, layered, and personal healing can be. I specialize in helping women navigate anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, and people-pleasing, using a warm, direct, and culturally responsive approach. I also facilitate group therapy and provide clinical supervision for associate-level clinicians who want to grow with confidence and authenticity.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Summerville starts with finding someone whose training matches what you want support with. People often look for therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, work stress, or life transitions. As you compare therapists, look for listed specialties and approaches that fit your needs. Some therapists focus on methods like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or acceptance and commitment therapy. Others may highlight experience with couples therapy, marriage counseling in Summerville, Christian counseling, or support for specific life stages.
In a smaller city like Summerville, local therapist availability may vary by neighborhood, schedule, and specialty. Virtual sessions can expand your options while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in South Carolina. If in-person care matters to you, consider office location, commute time, and appointment times that fit your week. It also helps to confirm whether a therapist is accepting new patients, offers a free phone consultation, and provides the type of session structure you prefer. Reading therapist profiles before booking can show how each therapist describes their style, communication approach, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Summerville can be a significant cost without insurance, and using in-network coverage is one of the most reliable ways to lower session costs. Headway helps you search for therapists, counselors, and psychologists who match your preferences, are accepting new patients, and may accept your insurance. You can enter your insurance details to see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking. From there, you can compare profiles, review specialties, choose virtual or in-person care, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're experiencing or worried about violence, threats, or coercion in your relationship, couples therapy isn't usually the right starting point — individual support is safer. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
