My name is Jackson and I am a transgender man working as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Connecticut. I specialize in working with the LGBT+ community and those with complex trauma. Other topics relevant to my experience include crisis/suicidality, HIV, homelessness, substance use/addiction, harm reduction, and neurodivergence.
I also offer consultation sessions for mental health letters of support for gender affirming care (hormone therapy, surgery, hair removal, etc). I use WPATH standards of care to assess your situation and will provide a letter of support and/or help you to create a plan for further support if we identify any concerns. Keep in mind different doctors/insurances/states have differing laws regarding these letters and I may need to do research prior to writing your letter to ensure we do so correctly.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree from UCONN, I bring over nine years of experience working with adolescents and their families. Additionally, I speak Portuguese and am happy to provide services for Portuguese-speaking clients.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges exacerbated by systems of oppression, personal and professional relationships, or unhelpful patterns. You may simply be craving peace, joy, and fulfilling relationships with others. Regardless of what is bringing you to treatment, we can develop a plan to meet your individual goals.
I am certified in anxiety, depression, and trauma (EMDR). I am also a relationship expert with a PhD in marriage and family therapy and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-S, LICSW). I have over 20 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, groups, and families. Many of my clients choose alternative methods for dealing with anxiety and depression instead of prescription medication. I am also a certified herbalist and a practitioner of yoga. I'm not just EMDR "trained", but also certified with advanced hours in trauma.
Welcome to my practice! My name is Nichola Lydon, and I’m excited to work with you. Whether you’re struggling with substance use dependency, navigating a difficult transition, or feeling stuck, I’m here to help.
My approach is honest, direct, and always rooted in compassion. I believe in having the tough conversations without judgment—because healing starts with truth, not sugarcoating. My practice is a safe, stigma-free space, where you can feel supported, heard, and empowered to create meaningful change.
If you're ready to do the work, face challenges head-on, and build a more resilient life, I’m ready to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Do you feel that your life, marriage or family are falling apart? Do you say to yourself that things can't go on the way they are yet unclear about a way out? I am an ally who can see things from your point of view. I listen, reflect, and support you on your process of making sense about issues close to your heart. My work doesn’t just focus on difficulties or the past, but looks at your strengths, and aims to help you get what you want out of life; whether that is to grow, to become happier and more fulfilled, to change old patterns that no longer serve, or to identify and develop your potential.

With a strong foundation in both social work and law enforcement, I bring a compassionate, grounded, and practical perspective to therapy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work and spent eight years in law enforcement, primarily working patrol. This experience gave me the opportunity to support individuals and families during some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their lives.
Through my professional work—and my own lived experiences with critical and traumatic incidents—I developed a deep commitment to helping others heal from trauma. I specialize in trauma-focused therapy and work with individuals navigating life’s challenges, processing difficult past experiences, and building resilience for the future.
My approach blends clinical expertise with real-world understanding to create a space that is supportive, nonjudgmental, and genuine. I strive to ensure clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. Whether you are working through trauma, adjusting to life transitions, or seeking healthier coping strategies, I aim to help you gain clarity, strengthen your inner resources, and move forward with confidence. I’m here to support you every step of the way on your path toward healing and personal growth.
I help people navigating life transitions and relationship difficulties to set boundaries and communicate their needs and wants in a way that creates the best outcomes for them and their loved ones, but some might also say that I make exploring your hard truths and expressing your vulnerabilities fun. Working together we will use evidence-based, systemic models, humor, empathy, and the occasional f-bomb to explore the parts of your life that you’re looking to change, shift the beliefs that are keeping you stuck, create connection, and let go of the parts of your life that no longer serve you in a healthy way.
For couples working with me, you can expect all of the above plus a reworking of the common ways you respond to one another in order to help make difficult conversations easier and for both of you to get more understanding, validation, empathy and teamwork and less battling, confusion, and resentment when it comes to the issues you face together.
