Hi, I’m Samantha Maybern, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping individuals and families feel supported, understood, and empowered. I have experience working with children, adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, life transitions, and relationship stress. My approach is compassionate, practical, and strengths-based, while also honoring each client’s values and personal journey. I believe healing happens through connection, trust, and learning new ways to move forward.
I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking to overcome obstacles and challenges in life. Over the years, I have worked in various settings providing counseling to adults, youth, and couples. I've worked in community mental health and private practice settings. I am licensed in Georgia and Florida with over 20 years of experience.
Anxiety that won't let up. A relationship that keeps hitting the same wall. Grief that shows up at the worst moments. After 24 years working with people through some of the hardest chapters of their lives, I know that reaching out takes real courage — and that it's almost never the wrong call. My clients tell me our sessions feel less like being analyzed and more like being genuinely heard. Whatever you've been carrying, you don't have to figure it out alone.
Hello and welcome! I believe therapy should feel supportive, practical, and human. I work with individuals, couples, and families who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in relationship patterns, or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and understood while also helping you build tools you can use in your everyday life.
My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Together, we may work on understanding patterns, managing stress, improving communication, setting healthier boundaries, processing emotions, and strengthening your connection with yourself and others.
I have 30 years of experience of helping those with those who have mental health, addictions and relationship problems. I am honored to help all who seek help with any of these issues. I help clients find solutions in a safe and non-judgmental place.
My mother taught me and my brothers from a very young age not to ever hate anyone. Her words have been invaluable to me. My father instilled in us boys a mantra that too has served me well. He said to us innumerable times "Listen." Neither of my parents were strict disciplinarians, and they never used corporal punishment. But, from boyhood, through adolescence and into young adulthood, my brothers and I could count on a well-deserved lecture and extra chores if either of my parents ever caught us breaking one of these rules. My parents' philosophy helped steer me into my life's work, and I employ their beliefs daily in my career as a therapist. I believe people seek counseling so they can be accepted, validated and heard. I committed to myself long ago to never hate and to always listen to my patients/clients/consumers, regardless of their behaviors.Validation, empowerment and dignity are what I strive to create, cultivate and reap in every therapeutic alliance into which I enter.

Searching for therapists in Augusta starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. Some people look for help with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or stress. Others may want a therapist with training in a specific approach, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care. As you compare Augusta therapists, look for listed specialties, therapy style, and experience that match what you want to focus on.
Augusta offers a range of therapy and counseling options, including in-person appointments near local neighborhoods and virtual sessions across Georgia. If local office availability is limited or your schedule varies, virtual therapy can make it easier to find a therapist who fits your calendar. You may also want to compare appointment times, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading each therapist’s profile can help you understand how they communicate, what they specialize in, and what sessions may look like.
Therapy in Augusta can be a significant cost without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Headway helps you search for therapists in Augusta, enter your insurance details, review therapist bios, and book directly when you find a fit.
