Hello there, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Texas. I received my Masters from Southern University at New Orleans and have been practicing for 16 years. I help my clients struggling with life stressors and issues to become the best version of themselves. Are you ready to become the best you that you can be?
I am an advanced practice registered nurse who specializes in diagnosing, treating, and supporting individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions. Combining clinical expertise with a holistic, person‐centered approach,
Shelena is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She loves working with individuals to help them reframe negative thinking and behaviors. She believes that given the right tools we all can become the best version of ourselves.
I completed my Master's in Social Work in 2018 as a first generation college student. My career has included adolescent, young adult, and family mental health care. I specialize in recovery from attachment trauma.
Trauma can change the way you see yourself, others, and the world around you. Whether you've experienced domestic violence, childhood abuse, or other painful life events, you may find yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or constantly on guard. Healing is possible, and you do not have to navigate that journey alone. As a licensed counselor with experience working with survivors of trauma, I provide a safe, supportive space where you can process your experiences, regain a sense of control, and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and meaningful.
I work with adults who grew up with emotionally immature or emotionally unavailable parents. Many come in feeling lonely, empty, or misunderstood, often stuck in people‐pleasing, low self‐esteem, anxiety, or depression, and unsure of who they are or how to form lasting emotional connections. I also support clients facing work stress, major life transitions, and grief. Together, we slow things down, build insight, strengthen identity and boundaries, and develop skills for emotional regulation and healthier relationships so clients feel more grounded, confident, and connected.
I am a clinician dedicated to helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. My approach is practical, compassionate, and grounded in meeting people exactly where they are. I work with clients navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, substance use challenges, and the emotional weight of family or relationship stress.
In our work together, my goal is to create a space where you can explore your experiences without judgment and learn skills that genuinely support your day-to-day life. I focus on building trust, understanding the full picture of each person’s strengths and struggles, and helping clients make meaningful progress at a pace that feels right for them.
Beyond therapy, I mentor developing clinicians and support wellness programs, which keeps me connected to both the clinical and community sides of mental health. I believe in whole-person care, collaboration, and helping every client recognize that they are worthy of stability, growth, and peace.
Welcome to a Journey of Healing and Growth
Are you seeking a path to inner peace and lasting resilience? Hi, I'm Kim, and for nearly two decades, I've guided individuals just like you toward a stronger, more authentic self. In a world saturated with external pressures and the constant search for validation in others or technology, my deepest passion is to help you cultivate a compassionate and unwavering friendship with yourself – an inner sanctuary you can always rely on. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, carrying the weight of depression, or navigating the lasting impact of trauma. My goal is to create a safe,
non-judgmental space where you can explore these challenges and discover your innate capacity for healing and finding peace.
As a board approved supervisor and licensed professional counselor, I strive to provide compassionate support to facilitate trust and growth. I have been practicing for 14 years, and over the last 5 years I've shifted my focus toward helping women struggling with trauma.
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). My approach incorporates trauma-informed, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused therapy.
I graduated with a BS in Education from Texas A&M in 1970 and Graduated from University of Houston/Clear Lake in 1990 with a Master's Degree in Counseling. I taught in the first Federally Funded Kindergarten program for economically deprived children in Texas. I taught kindergarten until 1989 when I became an elementary school counselor until retiring from the school system. I worked in an agency for one year before establishing my private practice. I now only work remotely. I trained in Heart Math, a medical tool to help calm the brain. I like to work with clients to minimize their negative thinking and shift to positive consciousness, using the writings of Dr. David Hawkins.
I'm a fellow millennial who gets just how tough "adulting" can be. Maybe your days are just passing by, life is feeling harder or less enjoyable than it should, or you do not have someone who "just gets you". Therapy is for everyone. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, or uncertain about which direction to take in life, I'm here to walk with you through it. Together, we'll explore where you are and where you want to go, at a pace that feels right for you.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in San Antonio starts with getting clear on what you need. Whether you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or a life transition, choosing a licensed provider who specializes in your area of concern can make a meaningful difference. San Antonio has a large and diverse provider community — including LPCs, LCSWs, psychologists, and psychiatrists — so there are many options to consider.
As you narrow your search, think about the logistics that matter most to you: whether you prefer in-person sessions in neighborhoods like Alamo Heights or Stone Oak, or the flexibility of virtual appointments from anywhere in Texas. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach, specialties, and style before you commit to a first session.
Therapy in San Antonio can range widely in cost, but using your in-network insurance benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay out of pocket. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and many people pay as low as $0 per visit depending on their coverage.
