My passion is to help others find more joy and meaning in their lives. I work creatively and collaboratively with adults, teens, and children to explore the heart of the matter. I have experience working in the schools, with a team at a counseling clinic, and in private practice. I specialize with teenagers and their families and moving into couples work as well.
My name is Tanasia Betts and I am a licensed professional counselor.
Life can feel heavy sometimes—uncertain, overwhelming, and out of balance in ways that are hard to put into words. If you’ve been carrying a lot on your own, it makes sense that reaching out for support might feel difficult, even vulnerable. I want you to know that those feelings are understood, and you are not alone in them.
You don’t have to figure everything out by yourself. I’m here to gently walk alongside you as you begin to take those first steps—at your pace, in your way. Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply tired, this can be a space where you’re allowed to just be, without pressure or judgment.
I approach therapy with warmth, care, and deep respect for your unique story. Together, we’ll create a space where you can feel safe enough to express yourself openly, explore what’s been weighing on your heart, and begin to reconnect with yourself and the relationships that matter most to you.
With extensive experience working with adults, I tailor each session to your needs, honoring where you are while gently supporting where you want to go. Healing doesn’t have to happen all at once—and you don’t have to do it alone.
As a board certified psychotherapist, I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and empowering to individuals of all ages. I have 8 years of experience in the field in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating through depression, anxiety, and everyday life stressors. I am passionate about supporting individuals through my multi-modal therapeutic approach which integrates CBT and solution-focused, reality-based strategies to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and meaningful change.
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience working with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, and stress.
I specialize in helping people who feel stuck at a crossroads—whether due to career changes, relationship shifts, or unexpected challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy looking for clarity, better coping skills, and a way to move forward with confidence.
My approach is direct, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based approaches. We focus on understanding patterns, building insight, and developing practical tools that create real change.
I primarily work with adults, with a focus on those navigating major life transitions and redefining what’s next.
Therapy doesn’t have to last forever. It’s a space to gain clarity, make intentional changes, and move forward at your own pace.
I am dedicated to helping teens struggling with trauma and self-harm behavior. My experience working with Orange Unified School District, running groups from grade 6-12 for students struggling with emotional and behavioral problems has given me unique insight into not only helping teens, but also working with the families, schools, and community to provide more effective treatment. I have partnered with Western Youth Services in helping at risk teens and low income families in helping adolescents to overcome academic barriers and families cope with serious defiance and drug use.
I will be your biggest and loudest supporter and advocate. I use a little bit of humor, mixed in with kindness, and a whole lot of warmth to help you dig deep into your story. Together, we'll challenge the stories you tell yourself about your life, your experience, and society. I have extensive experience working with folks experiencing anxiety/depression, work burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, and folks exploring their identity (all identities are absolutely welcomed here!)
Great to meet you!
As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 6 years of experience, I believe that prioritizing your mental health is essential to creating happiness and stability in life. Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Auburn starts with knowing what kind of support you want and which therapist is trained for those needs. People look for therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions. As you compare Auburn therapists, look for specialties and approaches that match what you want to work on, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or trauma-informed care. A therapist’s profile can also show how they structure sessions and what you can expect from their approach.
In a smaller city like Auburn, the number of nearby in-person therapy offices may be more limited than in larger California markets. Virtual therapy can expand your options while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in California. When narrowing your search, consider appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, session format, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading bios before booking can help you compare communication style, listed specialties, and practical details like schedule fit.
Therapy in Auburn can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Headway helps you find therapists who match your needs, take your insurance, and have current availability. You can browse profiles, compare virtual and in-person options, and book directly when you’re ready.
