If you have been carrying stress, anxiety, or the weight of life's challenges for a long time, you may have wondered whether things can actually change. I believe they can.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in California with over 30 years of clinical experience working with adults, families, and communities. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and I welcome clients from all cultural backgrounds. My work spans a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma, and substance use recovery.
I offer a space where rigorous thinking and genuine connection work together. I draw on psychoeducation and clinical reasoning to help adults make sense of complex patterns in their relationships, identities, and the systems that shape daily life. I see clients remotely throughout California and Nevada, with one goal: moving you from insight to sustainable progress.
Seeking therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe that healing begins through genuine connection, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they navigate life's challenges and work toward meaningful change.
As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), I have experience working with adults, children, adolescents, couples, families, veterans, and at-risk youth. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals facing trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, parenting concerns, abuse, neglect, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. These experiences have strengthened my passion for helping people build resilience, discover their strengths, and create lasting, positive change.
I recognize that every person's story is unique, so I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs and goals. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches to help you gain insight, develop practical coping skills, and move toward the life you want.
I am certified in various evidence based practices. I have also received specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), allowing me to support individuals and couples through trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions with proven, effective treatment approaches.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, working through past experiences, navigating relationship difficulties, or simply looking for support during a challenging season of life, I look forward to helping you find healing, growth, and hope.
Welcome, I'm glad you're here.
I’m Bechael S. Harris, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 27 years of nursing experience. I provide care for adults and older adults navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other mental health concerns. My practice blends compassion, evidence-based treatment, and a commitment to helping each person feel heard, valued, and supported.
I came from Denmark to California for my own therapy and healing. After working for 20+ years as an educator and creating a family, I decided to pursue the road to become a therapist. I've worked with a diverse range of people, families, ages and challenges in humanistic, person centered, emotion focused schools, in psychodynamic community clinic, in substance use recovery center running groups and in a treatment center for clients suffering from eating disorders and co-existing conditions. Working in this field continues to give me an in depth understanding of the human soul and heart that I strive to use to help others heal.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Chula Vista starts with getting clear on what kind of support you're looking for. Whether you're seeking help with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, or something else, look for a licensed provider — such as an LMFT, LCSW, psychologist, or psychiatrist — who has experience with your specific concerns. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they might be a good match before you book.
Chula Vista is home to providers trained in a range of therapy styles, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), couples counseling, and trauma-informed care. Some providers offer both in-person sessions at offices across the South Bay and virtual appointments throughout California. If flexibility matters to you, filtering by session format can help narrow your search.
Therapy in the San Diego area can be expensive out of pocket, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to lower your costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Confirming your coverage upfront means fewer surprises and a clearer path to care.
