I have over 15 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families across school, residential, and community settings. I’m licensed in California and Hawaii, with training in trauma-informed care, DBT, and grief support.
Living in Hawai‘i offers so much beauty—but that doesn’t mean life always feels peaceful. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, or other mental health challenges, you don’t have to do it alone. I work with adults and teens to help them move toward healing, balance, and lasting change.
Born and raised in Hawai`i I carry a lens that acknowledges the challenges we face, often specific to holding and honoring our place here in Hawai`i. As a kanaka, wahine, and makua I embrace the various roles we all play in our lives. Many of us carry the weight of our `ohana and are seeking support from someone "who gets it." With 17 years counseling experience here in Hawai`i and on the continent, I have worked across our communities in non-profit, government/judicial, and education (both DOE and university level). I have supported a variety of age groups including teens, adults, and our kupuna. I carry deep gratitude and aloha for our community people who make up our patchwork quilt here in Hawai`i.
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and finding the right therapist matters. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and understood.
I am currently accepting new clients.
Aloha, I'm Josie. If you’ve been holding a lot for a long time, therapy can be a place where you finally exhale. I work with women and teens who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply not like themselves. Whether you’re dealing with stress, relationship struggles, life changes, or that constant sense of emotional overload, our work together can help you feel more grounded, supported, and clear about what comes next.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Hawaii starts with identifying what you want to work on. Whether you're looking for support with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or life transitions, choosing a licensed provider who specializes in your area of concern can make a meaningful difference. Therapists in Hawaii hold a range of credentials — including LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, and psychologist — and many offer approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Hawaii's island geography can make finding in-person care more difficult, especially on neighbor islands like Kauai, Maui, or the Big Island. Virtual therapy expands your options by connecting you with licensed providers across the state from wherever you are. When narrowing your search, consider what matters most — whether that's a provider's specialty, their approach, session format, or scheduling availability.
Therapy in Hawaii can be expensive out of pocket without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to bring that cost down. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a therapist who fits both your clinical needs and your budget.
