It's not easy starting therapy and investing time in yourself, but you've already done the first step! My experience has primarily been focused in clients with eating disorders and co-occurring diagnoses. With that said, I also have extensive experience working with relationship challenges, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidality. I generally like to pull from my knowledge of various therapy modalities such as DBT, CBT, FBT and EFFT. I also really enjoy self-compassion work. Your goals are always my top priority, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
Outside of work, I enjoy live music, spending time with friends, and hanging out with my dogs, Nala and Toni. These personal interests help me stay grounded and bring balance to my life, which I believe is crucial for overall well-being.
If you're ready to take the next step, I'm here to help you navigate your journey towards healing and growth. Let's work together to achieve your goals!
As a neurodivergent therapist, I use an integrative and holistic approach to therapy. I strive to provide a warm, collaborative space to explore. I enjoy highlighting strengths in my clients, empowering you to accomplish your goals.
“Warm, practical, and empowering therapy to help you move beyond anxiety and into lasting change.”
You can’t break out of a cage you’re still trying to decorate. I’ve been many people’s 4th/5th/8th/9th therapist and been told they felt like something finally clicked for them. I care about it clicking. My approach is based on self-compassion and living an integrated life. Even if you’re motivated to change, it’s still hard because negative events can shape beliefs about the world and ourselves that we often don’t even realize we hold. So we start with self-compassion, and then work on trying to bring our actions into alignment with our goals. I’ve been a therapist for over a decade now, and I promise – self-compassion is the move.
I’m a licensed psychologist with more than three decades of experience in psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and trauma-informed care. My background includes extensive work with adults, adolescents, and children across private practice, medical settings, and the VA’s PTSD clinic, where I provided both treatment and disability evaluations. I completed my doctorate at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in an APA-approved Counseling Psychology program and an APA-accredited internship with broad training in assessment, psychotherapy, and multidisciplinary collaboration. I specialize in trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, dissociation, family-of-origin issues, and helping people untangle long-standing patterns that keep them stuck. My style is warm, open-minded, and direct, meeting people right where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor ( LMHC) who provides warm, supportive space for individuals seeking growth and healing. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns, using evidence based approaches tailored to each client. My goal is to help clients feel understood, empowered, and confident as they work toward meaningful change.
As a partner in your healing, I’m here to guide you through the vulnerable work of remembering, reflecting, releasing, and reclaiming. Using compassionate listening, loving honesty, and intentional processing of the challenges and changes affecting your mental health, my hope for you is to recognize that peace is possible. Central to this journey is acknowledging and understanding how your identities such as race, gender, and sexuality shape your experiences and worldview. In honoring that, creating a partnership where all parts of your identity are seen, safe, and valued is crucial to my practice. I believe it’s important to create a space grounded in grace that allows you to be kind and gentle with yourself. As we “walk” together and unpack the root causes of complex issues in your life, I will be with you as we identify new ways of being/doing, coping strategies, systems of support, and tangible self-care practices. If you’re ready to take the first step, I would be honored to walk with you on your journey of growth and healing.

I’m Dr. Sean Burson, a licensed therapist in Washington and Idaho. My background includes work in hospice care, ministry, and military settings, which has shaped how I listen and care for people. I bring a grounded, compassionate presence and value building real trust with my clients. I believe our stories deeply shape who we are, and therapy can help us understand and rewrite them with intention and hope.
Let's work together and help you find your direction. My counseling style is highly consultative and coaching-like. It is typically non-directive, as I believe each client pilot's their own ship, but when the situation warrants, there is plenty of idea sharing and strategizing as well.
I have been practicing for 21 years and work with clients of all ages and various backgrounds. I believe that with a strong therapeutic alliance, we can mutually come together and help you find a path forward that suits you.
