I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 7 years of experience helping people feel more grounded, confident, and connected. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, and self-doubt, and I often help clients understand how past relationship patterns may still be affecting them today. I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, so we can meet in the language that feels most comfortable for you.

My clinical background includes extensive experience working with underprivileged populations, victims of crime, and individuals coping with bereavement, grief, and loss. I have served as a school counselor for students from pre‐K through 12th grade, and I have supported college students navigating the challenges of major life transitions.

After completing my Master’s in Counseling from California State University, Sacramento, I co‐facilitated a children’s bereavement group with Hospice and led a suicide‐prevention program throughout inner‐city schools in Sacramento. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how individuals process adversity, build resilience, and find meaning in their healing journeys.

My therapeutic approach is humanistic and person‐centered, with an emphasis on play and art therapy. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution‐Focused techniques, and mindfulness‐based approaches to support clients in developing insight, strengthening coping skills, and fostering emotional well‐being.

Natasha Vernon is the owner of Sunshine Behavioral & Mental Health Center, LLC. She is a dually certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2016 and post master’s life span psychiatric nurse practitioner certification from Washburn University in 2020. She has over 10 years of nursing experience in various specialties within the medical field. Throughout her career, she has treated a variety of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and other psychiatric disorders. She is truly passionate about providing care for people suffering with mental illness.

At Sunshine Behavioral & Mental Health Center, LLC, our goal is to provide compassionate, kind, and empathetic care to all of our patients and eliminate all stigmas associated with people diagnosed with mental illness. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University, a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia, and I am an active member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society.

I earned an MSW from Tulane School of Social Work in 1989 and am a clinical social worker. I also practice Psychodrama and am a graduate of the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute in NY. I work primarily with musicians, actors & writers. I have a long history of working in non-profit agencies and schools, providing top notch care to disadvantaged and oppressed adolescents and families.
