One of my joys in life is making a positive difference in my client's lives. Maybe you’ve tried everything; talking to friends/family, reading self-help books, ignoring the problem hoping it will go away, or just accepting how things are and yet you are feeling unhappy and stuck. I believe there is hope for you, a life filled with love, fulfillment and fun. I've had a variety of life experiences (good, not so good) that's given me wisdom and insights about people/life. I work with couples, women/men issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD. I'll travel with you on your journey of healing/growth with understanding and compassion.
I have worked in mental health field for over 20yrs. I have worked with all age range. I have a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. Hi, I'm Ellen, a psychotherapist who treats adults and adolescents 19 and up. I combine psychodynamic techniques with spirituality to create a session that offers both common sense and compassion, and also some creative and fun interventions! I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationships, and more. My approach is individualized to respect you and what you need or hope for in therapy. I am a marriage and family therapist with experience in school, clinic, and private practice.
I specialize with the symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD and high spectrum autism. My approach is to involve the individual persons' needs for developing better communication skills, coping skills, support systems, insights, and physical health. My office is set up for creative play and insightful communication games.
Life is Difficult! Many obstacles and challenges! I've been practicing 25+ years assisting adults (of all ages) and teens (15+) with major life changes, mild/moderate depression, anxiety, relationship/attachment issues, sobriety and its relation to mental health. I also work with high functioning career/work choices - helping students/adult-professionals find Purpose-Vision, and Ambition in their career (Life/Career-Coaching). I employ talk therapy to alleviate symptoms, elevate mood, increase self-awareness and existing strengths. I also help people in recovery to alleviate 'Character Defects' that continue on in sobriety.
I am licensed clinical psychologist in California. I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology and MA in Counseling Psychology.
I am trained in the depth psychological tradition (psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychodynamic and Jungian/analytic psychology). I listen to how deep-rooted beliefs, current dilemmas in daily life, socio-cultural factors, and emotional responses are communicating through the expression of psychological symptoms.
Are you are experiencing verbal and/or mental abuse from a romantic partner, a parent, sibling, friend, co-worker? Do you struggle with your own internal thoughts (e.g. "you’re not good enough”, "it's all your fault", “you are not a priority”). Maybe you’ve lost someone and you’re grieving. You are emotionally exhausted because of the pain you hide and the inability to say "no". You tell yourself the good is good but the bad is bad. You're scared and confused on what to do or how to "fix" things. These experiences create rumination, avoidance, trauma, anxiety, and more.
Healing happens in relationships, and I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach, focusing on the whole family system. When one person struggles, it affects everyone. My approach is collaborative, relational, and strengths-based, prioritizing a safe space, unconditional positive regard, and a strong therapeutic alliance. I work with toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, parents, couples, and families. I help families navigate emotional and behavioral challenges and individuals seeking growth, connection, and healing.
I treat ADHD, OCD, Anxiety & Depression, Emotional Dysregulation & Adjustment Issues. I offer Child-Centered Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy for Goal-Oriented Change, Parent Support, & Family Therapy.
Every child deserves to feel seen, every parent deserves support, and every person deserves a space of hope and growth. Let’s work together to create lasting change.
Growing up in California, Colorado and Tennessee concocted a Midwestern warmth with an open-mindedness and appreciation of our differences. These experiences gave me a curiosity for how humans develop in their environments and with their unique histories, leading me to pursue psychology.
I studied Political Science at Vanderbilt University before a seven year tenure in the corporate world. I am grateful for this experience as it has added depth and perspective to my work with clients. In 2014 I began my counseling psychology degree at The Wright Institute in Berkeley and then completed my training in San Francisco. My training journey encompassed internships at community mental health clinics, elementary and high schools, group therapy practices, and social service sites where I received intensive supervision in a variety of modalities. I regularly attend trainings and consult with colleagues to hone my craft and provide the best possible care.
