I graduated from UCLA's Social Welfare program and developed a specialty working with adolescents, teens, parents, teachers and school administrators via the LAUSD public school system. Over the course of 15 years, I have developed an expertise in utilizing a trauma-informed lens and attachment theory to address treatment areas such as trauma, depression, parenting, parent-child relationships, behavioral issues and anxiety.
My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by a deep belief in people's capacity for growth, healing, and resilience. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire, and have worked with many diverse populations - from individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, trauma, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and couples. I have worked with CBT, DBT, ACT, and CPT approaches as well as completing advanced training in both ABFT & EMDR.
I have lived in the Truckee Tahoe area off an on for over 30 years, I have an AA Degree in Early Child Development, a BA Degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, and I attended the University of. Nevada, Reno for my Masters in Social Work.
My husband and I have two grown children who live in Northern CA and Nevada. We are avid skiers, mountain bikers, and my hobbies include cooking, art, writing, and learning, and of course, playing with our mini golden doodle, Joaquin.
My roots are in Scranton, Pennsylvania; growing up, life was challenging and unpredictable for me and my sisters. I was the first member of our extended family who was able to put themselves through both undergraduate (BA - Latin American Studies/UCSC, and graduate school (MSW- Masters in Social Work, (UNR) and graduate with honors.
All three of my younger sisters followed in my footsteps to pursue higher education and to find success as Professionals.
My husband and I moved to the Tahoe/Truckee area together in the early 1990s, pursuing seasonal employment. We somehow made ends meet, things got a little easier each year, and he later pursued a career in resort and business management, while I pursued continuing education, mental health and licensure, and opening up my practice.
Our son and a daughter both grew up enjoyed attending local public schools in Truckee, and later the Univeristy of California; they are both living fulfilling adult lives in the nearby region.
I am currently accepting new clients. Life can feel overwhelming when stress builds, relationships feel strained, or we are carrying grief, anxiety, or self doubt on our own. I work with individuals, couples, and families who want more clarity, stronger connection, and a more fulfilling life. Whether you are feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply worn down, therapy can be a place where we slow down, make sense of what is happening, and start creating meaningful change together.
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck or needing to focus? I enjoy partnering with my clients on their journeys to improved wellness. In our time together, we will celebrate your strengths and develop goals to maximize your wellness, together. While we can't change our past, we can work together to process our story’s strengths and struggles. We can talk through your current challenges and quiet the noise around you. We can explore the barriers that may get in the way of enjoying life to the fullest. We can identify ways to find joy again. I look forward to meeting with you to plan how to achieve your goals.
Welcome!
I believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your experiences, gain insight, and move toward the life you want to live.
I believe that meaningful mental health care starts with trust, compassion, and genuine connection. Over the past 15 years, I have worked across a variety of healthcare settings, including trauma nursing, emergency nursing, and nurse leadership roles, caring for individuals and families during some of life's most challenging moments. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, empathy, and respect.
My commitment to mental health care is also shaped by personal experience. Like many people, I have witnessed the impact of mental health challenges in my own life and among loved ones, which has deepened my understanding of the courage it takes to seek help. I strive to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences.
I work with adults across the full span of life, from age 18 through 103, and I truly value the different experiences that come with each stage. Whether you are navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or simply wanting to feel more balanced and well, I am here to support you. I believe mental health care should feel accessible and responsive, which is why I offer flexible options like same day appointments, telehealth, and even house calls. My goal is to meet you where you are and provide care that fits into your life, not the other way around.
I specialize in helping Women at all stages of life. I have extensive experience working with clients on their relationships. I have additional clinical training in substance abuse, disordered eating, perinatal mood disorders and parenting issues.
I earned my Master of Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). These experiences strengthened my commitment to helping individuals feel supported and understood while navigating life’s challenges.
I have provided therapy to clients of all ages, both individually and within families, and I now focus primarily on adults who want to create meaningful change in their lives. In addition, I bring experience working with individuals with autism and ADHD diagnoses, offering strategies that highlight their strengths, improve daily functioning, and foster growth.
My approach is centered on guiding clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, and overwhelming stress, with the goal of building greater stability, confidence, and connection. I believe therapy should be a safe, collaborative space where progress feels achievable and each step brings clients closer to the life they want to live.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in San Jose starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or work-related stress, look for a licensed provider — such as an LMFT, LCSW, psychologist, or psychiatrist — who has experience with your specific concerns. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their style and approach before you commit to a session.
San Jose has a large number of practicing therapists, which can make narrowing your options feel overwhelming. Think about what matters most to you: a provider who offers a specific therapy type like CBT or EMDR, someone available for evening or weekend sessions, or a therapist you can see virtually from home. A free phone consultation is one of the best ways to gauge whether a provider feels like the right match.
Therapy in San Jose can be expensive without coverage, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay out of pocket. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a therapist who fits both your needs and your budget.
