I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner who works from the belief that people are not broken—and that many of the struggles we call “mental illness” make sense when we look at trauma, context, and lived experience. I’m especially attuned to the ways mental health systems, stigma, and labels can unintentionally cause harm, and I aim to practice in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and deeply human.
My approach is unconventional and trauma-informed, influenced by perspectives like those of Gabor Maté, which emphasize compassion, curiosity, and understanding symptoms as meaningful responses rather than defects. I do not believe in rushing to pathologize the human experience. As Joni Mitchell once reflected about depression, sometimes what we’re feeling is not an illness to be fixed, but a signal—an honest response to pain, loss, or a world that has not been kind.
I am a Native New Yorker, living in Colorado since the Mets won the World Series. I use my training in conjunction with my life experience in the therapy room, but it's always your therapy room.
My passion lies in instilling hope that recovery and wellness is possible – and worth it! I specialize in eating disorders, mood & anxiety disorders, grief, and the unexpected twists & turns of life. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate this journey.
I believe counseling is a collaborative process and starts in the first session as we work together to understand your concerns. My first intention for you is to feel empowered, nurtured, and strengthened by the work we do together. I will work with you to create a safe and trusting space in which you can explore challenges that have hindered your ability to take full advantage of your potential. Together we will work on resolving difficult issues to promote increased self-awareness, understanding, and connection.
Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes the challenges we face—whether it’s the stress of being a new parent, navigating a difficult relationship, managing trauma, or dealing with anxiety and depression—can feel insurmountable. I believe that every person has inherent strengths that can be harnessed to create positive change. In our work together, we will explore your unique needs and build practical, personalized tools that empower you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
With over 20 years of experience in diverse behavioral health settings, I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding to help you navigate challenges. I specialize in maternal mental health, trauma, women's issues, relational issues, family conflict, substance use concerns, anxiety, and work or career-related stress.
Hi, I’m Shannon. I bring over 20 years of experience in healthcare, including more than a decade as a nurse practitioner. I’ve worked as a family nurse practitioner since 2013, and over time my passion led me to focus my practice on mental wellness and emotional health. My path through many roles in healthcare—from nurse’s aide to NP—shapes a thoughtful, whole-person approach to care.
I specialize in perinatal mental health (pregnancy, postpartum, miscarriage, and loss) as well as anxiety that often shows up as overwhelm, overfunctioning, and constant pressure to hold everything together. Many of my clients are high-capacity women who are used to managing a lot, but feel mentally and emotionally overloaded. I offer a grounded, collaborative space where you don’t have to carry everything alone.
I try every day to be an authentic human who loves and respects the individuality of all other humans. Being a clinical social worker for 25 years, is reflected in my personal values and faith system. My goal is to spread kindness like confetti which has spanned serving in Baltimore, Jacksonville, Atlanta and Eagle County, CO. I have a solution focused mindset, believe in the mind body connection and giving ourselves grace. Life is not always easy and sometimes we need short term professional support, some sunshine, a deep breath, a 20 second hug and some new found eyes on the situation.
