Hello, and welcome. My name is Patricia Mathison, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) dedicated to supporting individuals in navigating life’s challenges with compassion, clarity, and practical tools for growth.
I bring a strong professional background in mental health counseling, with experience working with diverse populations. My work has allowed me to support clients through concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and stress-related challenges.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling and Psychology from Lesley University, where I received comprehensive training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches. I continue to stay current in the field through ongoing professional development and training.
My areas of specialization include anxiety and depressive disorders, trauma, mood disorders, self-esteem, or relationship issues. I often draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, respect, and authenticity. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported as you work toward meaningful change.
Whether you’re seeking support for a specific concern or looking to better understand yourself, I am here to help you move forward with confidence and resilience.
I do Individual, Couples, Family, and Group Therapy. I currently facilitate a Bereavement Group which meets at my Brookline office every Saturday from 2-4pm. At The Curious Cat Therapy, I work with tweens, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, family challenges, and life transitions. I enjoy working with motivated clients who want to better understand themselves, build new skills, and create meaningful change. As a therapist, I offer a supportive approach that balances compassion with accountability. Together, we'll identify patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward healthier ways of managing life's challenges. I bring authenticity, curiosity, and humor into therapy when appropriate, creating a space where growth feels both achievable and genuine.
As a therapist, my goal is to provide empathy and compassion in an emotionally safe environment. I am passionate about helping people through the most difficult challenges life may have. I work with people to build their self-worth, ease emotional pain, and help regain a sense of enjoyment in their life as they once had. I envision helping people recognize their strengths, then build on their strengths, to help them to become more self-confident, happy and aware.
