My journey towards therapy started in the forests on the Pacific Crest Trail and in the San Juan Mountains as a Wilderness Therapy Guide. I was entranced by people's stories that landed them on the trail, as well as by their takes on life. I decided to get my Master's in Counseling at Adam's State University so that I could professionally hear people's stories. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Durango starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Consider the concerns you want to address — whether that's anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or something else — and look for a licensed provider with experience in that area. Common license types include Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and psychologists, each of whom can provide talk therapy. If you think you may need medication management, a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner may be a good fit.
Durango is a smaller community, so the number of in-person providers may be more limited than in larger Colorado cities. Virtual therapy can expand your options significantly, connecting you with licensed Colorado providers who offer flexible scheduling from wherever you are. Many insurance plans cover virtual sessions the same way they cover in-person visits.
Therapy in Durango can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay per session. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated costs upfront, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a provider who fits your needs and your budget.
