Hello and welcome! There is so much I want to share with you!
I acknowledge that finding a therapist can sometimes feel overwhelming because you want to find a good fit, someone who “gets” you, so I thank you for being here.
I identify as a Latinx, cis gender woman, feminist, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ ally, and spiritual. I am the granddaughter of immigrants from Mexico and the daughter of working class parents. Before coming to Marriage and Family Therapy, I earned a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies, and wrote my thesis on the jurisprudence of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I am aware of the dominant societal structures, narratives, expectations and pressures that can impact your story and how you live it. I look forward to being alongside you as you write a preferred story – one that is fully authored by you.
Prior to focusing on Marriage and Family Therapy, I worked for close to nineteen years in higher education leadership, advising and mentoring college students at a public university in Southern California. The relationships I fostered with students and the stories they shared with me inspired me to move into Marriage and Family Therapy. Like my work with the students, my therapy work is filled with compassion, empathy and understanding. And while there may sometimes be difficult conversations and tears in our work, I also invite in laughter, lightness and joy.
I am currently scheduling online and in-person appointments. I am available Mondays- Thursdays, and Saturdays.
My name is Karen and I have been working in mental health for 25 years. It is rewarding to witness my clients take charge of their lives and connect them to what they find most meaningful. Whether it’s listening, teaching new skills, or offering constructive feedback, I work closely with each person so they can find more joy in life.
Taking the courageous step to care for your mental health is the foundation for overcoming life’s challenges. As a skilled and dedicated therapist, I will guide you in unlocking your inner strengths and building the tools you need to create a fulfilling and balanced life. I gained experience by working in outpatient and residential facilities throughout the Los Angeles community, providing individual and group support to those managing co-occurring disorders and family system challenges. I am especially passionate about working with individuals who are managing anxiety and depression, feelings of low self- worth, relationship difficulties, and impulsive behaviors. I received a BS from Boston University, and a MS in Counseling from California State University, Northridge, graduating with honors.
Hello! I work with adult clients, ages 18-64 years old, who have medication management needs for their mental health conditions. Clients should have appropriate acuity in the mild-to-moderate range for telehealth care. Certain conditions or symptom severity levels may need a more intensive care setting than telehealth. Same week appointments available.
I have been described as a “down to earth” and “real” therapist. I like to believe these are accurate descriptors. I bring a plethora of experience to my therapy room; however, I recognize, acknowledge, and celebrate the client being the expert on their life. I provide a safe environment which allows my clients to be transparent without judgment. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and it is definitely a risk. We need to remember there is no growth without risk!
As a therapist I'm here for you. It seems brave to me make a decision to come to therapy. My part is to listen and without judgment or personal agenda and to be effective in your needs and wants. Of course, I also need to be aware of the legals and ethicals of therapy. I attended Sarah Lawrence College and Harvard University for my BA, and Phillips Graduate Institute for my MA.
I specialize in working with individuals struggling with weight loss and weight management. I provide an alternative strategy to weight loss based on cognitive therapy that allows people to change their life and their relationship with food, instead of just dieting.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure where to go next, you’re in the right place. Graduated Pepperdine University with Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2007. I’ve spent many years helping adults from all walks of life navigate anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, relationship stress, life transitions, and identity questions. I especially enjoy working with men (including those who are completely new to therapy), as well as women wanting help understanding the important relationships in their lives. Whether you're processing past experiences, facing grief or loss, adjusting to a new stage of life, or trying to better understand who you are and where you belong — I’m here to help.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I believe healing happens through connection, compassion, and understanding. I partner with clients to explore patterns, build coping skills, and develop greater self-awareness in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with their values.
I have lived in the Truckee Tahoe area off an on for over 30 years, I have an AA Degree in Early Child Development, a BA Degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, and I attended the University of. Nevada, Reno for my Masters in Social Work.
My husband and I have two grown children who live in Northern CA and Nevada. We are avid skiers, mountain bikers, and my hobbies include cooking, art, writing, and learning, and of course, playing with our mini golden doodle, Joaquin.
My roots are in Scranton, Pennsylvania; growing up, life was challenging and unpredictable for me and my sisters. I was the first member of our extended family who was able to put themselves through both undergraduate (BA - Latin American Studies/UCSC, and graduate school (MSW- Masters in Social Work, (UNR) and graduate with honors.
All three of my younger sisters followed in my footsteps to pursue higher education and to find success as Professionals.
My husband and I moved to the Tahoe/Truckee area together in the early 1990s, pursuing seasonal employment. We somehow made ends meet, things got a little easier each year, and he later pursued a career in resort and business management, while I pursued continuing education, mental health and licensure, and opening up my practice.
Our son and a daughter both grew up enjoyed attending local public schools in Truckee, and later the Univeristy of California; they are both living fulfilling adult lives in the nearby region.

Finding the right therapist in Sebastopol starts with getting clear on what kind of support you're looking for. Common reasons people in the Sebastopol and Sonoma County area seek therapy include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match before you book.
Sebastopol is a smaller community, so you may want to consider providers in nearby areas like Santa Rosa, Petaluma, or Rohnert Park — or look into virtual sessions with a California-licensed provider.
