I earned my Masters in Social Work, and am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. I also earned a Masters in Science in Hospice and Palliative Studies. I started this degree in Michigan, but I did my internship after I moved here in the Bereavement Department of Four Seasons Hospice in Flat Rock NC. I have continued to learn through Continuing Education. I am a lifelong learner, so I continue to learn and to teach and utilize what I have gained with clients in session. I have trained extensively in Mindfulness, Self Compassion, Compassion Focused Therapy, Grief and Loss, and Death and Dying, and Non Violent Communication. I am also trained in and utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

In my past position of working as clinical Therapist, a large part of my clientele was working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Communication, and focusing on working with women primarily. I would like to continue to with that focus. In the past I also worked with children and families with Intensive In Home, and people who were homeless, primarily women, with ABCCM. I learned a lot through these experiences that benefit me with my current work.

I enjoy empowering clients with ADHD to understand their gifts and strengths, and to learn ways to feel supported with the struggles of living with ADHD, by learning new coping skills, psycho education, to gain new insights, and feel stronger within themselves.

I have focused much of my clinical enjoy working with women, especially older women, guiding them toward fierce compassion, along with re-creating themselves as they are grow in strength and feel their possibilities in a new way.

I have been in private practice for 20 years with my specialty focusing on individuals resolving historic traumas and women balancing all of the complications of womanhood in a fast paced, demanding world. My style is informed from my diverse experience. I have worked in adolescent residential treatment, FBI consulting, an expert witness and a graduate school professorship; all the while working with my private practice clients. In the last several years, I have been sought out as a corporate consultant and speaker to discuss how our negative experiences and traumas shape our behaviors as high intensity professionals.

The untapped magnificence I see in my clients never ceases to inspire and amaze me. Anyone who is willing to do hard work is already a gift to this World! I've grown bored of many things in my life but this work....never!

I bring warmth, authenticity, and a calm, steady presence to the therapeutic relationship. While my focus is on children and teens, I also support adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, and major life changes.

I’m intentional about creating a space where clients of all ages feel understood and supported. While working with children and teens, I work to build trust through patience, playfulness, and developmentally appropriate communication. For adults, I offer a grounded, collaborative environment where they can explore challenges openly and at their own pace. Parents often share that they appreciate my ability to connect with their child while also offering clear communication, guidance, and compassion throughout the process.

As a clinician, I enjoy working with everyone in all phases of life helping in building self-esteem, managing addiction, trauma, self-discovery, medication management, anger management, re-establishing one's dreams/purpose, building/strengthening relationships one has with self, partners or family systems.

I have worked with foster children, young adults, primary care staff and patients, those who struggled with substance abuse in a methadone clinic, provided supervision to non-licensed social workers in the hospital.

I welcome the opportunity to meet with you for a consultation to see if working together would be a great match like a grilled cheese or peanut butter sandwich.

Best of luck on your journey to health and wellness.

Find the right counselor for your family

Headway makes it easier to find family-focused support — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Family Therapist in Asheville, NC

Finding family therapists in Asheville starts with understanding what your family wants support with, such as parenting conflict, adolescent struggles, blended family dynamics, or communication across generations. Family therapists are trained to work with the relational system, not just one person. As you compare therapists, look for bios that mention family systems, structural family therapy, parent-child work, or experience with concerns that match your situation.

Asheville has a smaller local therapist market than many larger cities, so virtual care can expand the number of therapists available to your family. In-person sessions may be a fit if several family members can attend from nearby areas, while virtual appointments may work better when schedules, transportation, or households vary. Before booking, review each therapist’s profile for appointment times, whether they are accepting new patients, and how they structure family sessions — including whether they meet with the full family, parents, siblings, or individual members.

Family therapy in Asheville can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you find therapists who match your needs and offer upfront cost estimates, so you can review bios, compare availability, and book directly when you’re ready.

If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
