A nationally certified counselor, I am also a member of LPC Association of NC and the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP).
I am passionate about helping people triumph over trauma, learn mindfulness-based practices to reduce stress and manage anxiety, improve self-esteem, understand the relationship among our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors (CBT) and learn to tolerate distress in their lives.
Im Kendra, I have a bachelors in fine art, and I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. I draw on four years of working in community mental health with folks recovering from substance abuse and behaviors that no longer helpful or are directly harming relationships and mental health. I offer trauma‐informed care that is inclusive to all humans, healing happens when you can show up as your authentic and full self!

I believe therapy works best when there is a strong connection between therapist and client. My style is warm, genuine, and direct. I'll offer compassion and support, but I'll also help you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
As a trauma-informed therapist and EMDR specialist, I create a space where you can be yourself without judgment. Clients often tell me they feel comfortable with me quickly because I show up as a real person—not just a therapist.
I believe healing happens through both insight and action. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and empowered to create meaningful change in your life.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Asheville starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Consider whether you need support for a specific concern — such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or ADHD — and whether you'd prefer a therapist, counselor, or psychiatrist. Licensed providers like LCSWs, LCMHCs, LPCs, and psychologists offer talk therapy, while psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners can also prescribe medication. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match.
Asheville has a large and diverse mental health provider community, which means you have options — but it can also make narrowing your search feel like a lot. Practical factors matter: whether you want in-person sessions in neighborhoods like downtown Asheville, West Asheville, or South Slope, or prefer the flexibility of virtual visits. Scheduling, availability, and whether a provider specializes in the type of therapy you're interested in (such as CBT, EMDR, or DBT) are all worth considering as you compare profiles.
Therapy in Asheville can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay per session, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a provider who fits both your clinical needs and your budget.
