You’re doing your best—but parenting can feel heavy. Maybe your child is having big emotions, struggling with anxiety, or acting out in ways that worry you. Maybe you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering if you’re doing enough. You're not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I work with moms and children (ages 3–17) who are navigating the hard stuff—anxiety, trauma, life changes, or just the emotional weight of everyday life. Whether your child needs support, or you do (or both), I provide a safe, compassionate space where healing begins and hope grows
Hi! I’m Griselda Ruvalcaba, a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor; I bring nearly two decades of experience working with children and families, including over 15 years as a bilingual elementary school educator and several years as a school counselor in Plano ISD.
I specialize in working with children through Play Therapy, providing a warm, safe, and welcoming space where kids can express themselves, build confidence, and develop emotional regulation skills. My approach is child-centered, and I believe that every child has the capacity to grow when given the tools and support to navigate their inner world.
In my role as a school counselor, I’ve led individual sessions, group work, and classroom guidance lessons focused on emotional awareness, anxiety, grief, and building coping skills. I work closely with caregivers, teachers, and school staff to support each child holistically—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Hi! My name is Monica McKee. I’m a passionate LMFT dedicated to helping couples, individuals, and first responder families navigate life’s challenges, heal from past wounds, and strengthen their relationships. Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, working through trauma, or seeking greater self-understanding, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care.
I’ve been married for 25 years and understand that relationships can bring both joy and struggle. This personal experience, combined with my clinical training, allows me to approach couples work with empathy and practical insight. As the spouse of a first responder, I also have a deep appreciation for the unique stressors first responder families face and am honored to support them in therapy. I speak conversational Spanish and enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
I specialize in helping couples and families reconnect and heal through an attachment-based approach, exploring how early relationships influence the ways we love, trust, and communicate. I’m trained in EMDR and I'm a Gottman Method Couples Level 2 practitioner, an evidence-based approach that helps couples improve communication, deepen emotional connection, and rebuild trust.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 2010, and my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in 2023, with a focus on trauma.
Life can get heavy—whether you’re juggling family dynamics, relationship stress, parenting challenges, or just trying to stay afloat. Maybe you’ve always been the dependable one, the person everyone else leans on, but you’re starting to realize it’s time to focus on yourself. You want less tension, more connection, and practical tools that actually make a difference. You’re not after a quick fix—you just want someone real to help you sort things out and walk with you through the hard parts.

McCartney is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in Bible from Harding University. From there he went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Texas Wesleyan in Professional Counseling. McCartney has experience with a wide range of ages from his time working as a children’s ministry intern, to working at a treatment center for teens and young men and running group counseling at an intensive outpatient program.
Hi, I’m Charity, and I specialize in helping individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I use a solution-focused therapy approach that emphasizes your strengths and the progress you’re already making, even when it may feel hard to see. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based practices to help you stay grounded, build self-awareness, and manage stress in healthier, more intentional ways.
I believe that therapy should be collaborative, empowering, and tailored to you. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just unsure of where to go next, we’ll work together to identify clear, achievable goals and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud parent of four amazing kids, ages 17, 10, 10, and 2. My youngest is on the autism spectrum, which has deepened my understanding of neurodiversity, parenting stress, and the importance of flexibility and compassion. When I’m not working or parenting, I love attending comic cons and trying new foods, whether that’s a new local spot or a dish I’ve never made before.
If you’re looking for a supportive, down-to-earth therapist who will help you focus on what’s possible (not just what’s painful), I’d be honored to work with you. At this time I do not provide couples counseling.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Denton starts with getting clear on what kind of support you're looking for. Whether you're seeking help with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or life transitions, choosing a licensed provider — such as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or psychologist — who has experience with your specific concerns can make a meaningful difference. Denton is home to a large community of mental health professionals, and many also serve nearby areas like Corinth, Argyle, Lake Dallas, and Highland Village.
Beyond clinical specialty, practical factors matter too. Consider whether you prefer in-person sessions at a Denton office or virtual appointments from home, what days and times work with your schedule, and whether a provider's communication style feels like a good match. Reading a provider's bio before booking can help you understand their approach and decide if they're someone you'd feel comfortable working with.
Therapy in Denton can be expensive out of pocket, but using your in-network insurance benefits is one of the most reliable ways to lower costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a provider who fits both your clinical needs and your budget.
